WHO WE ARE
Emoto Studio is a wedding film and photography production studio based at Playhouse East in East London.
Our creative approach has developed through years of experience and influence of much of the wider arts, including filmmakers, photographers and artists, as well as through continued experimentation with production techinque, pacing and tone. Collectively we work using cine and digital lenses, aerial footage, analogue cameras and a range of compact tools that allow us to stay agile while maintaining a strong level of production.
Beyond filmmaking, the studio works in photography, analogue formats and content creation. Building across these areas and developing a connected in house team has created wider foundations for a studio-led approach that continues to grow.
LOUIS EMOTO | photographer & filmmaker
INTRODUCTION
After several years working in the fashion industry, I was introduced to videography by a designer and close friend who was building a team for a wedding filmmaking company. There I began learning the foundations of wedding filmmaking through hands on experience, working under guided mentorship and alongside people who had already spent years refining their craft.
Over the following two summers, I worked with two wedding film companies and collaborated with experienced filmmakers, giving me a strong technical and creative base, while also showing me how much more there was to explore beyond simply documenting a day. I came to appreciate just how varied and imaginative weddings are and I feel fortunate to have captured a wide range of celebrations over the years, from the more relaxed and informal to the more detailed and considered.
I feel privileged to work a craft that is both creatively challenging and emotionally compelling, while also allowing me to meet people at such an important and personal moment in their lives.
DEVELOPMENT
What began as a solo venture under 'SHOT by LOUIS' has since grown into something broader. After building a network of filmmakers and photographers over time, Emoto Studio was developed allowing for a studio approach to wedding production.
